Course 3 - English for Leadership in Tourism

20 lessons per week, each lesson: 45 minutes 

 

Duration – 3 weeks

Minimum group size – 5

Leadership is essential for the success of the hospitality industry. The absence of effective leadership may result in the industry’s inability to survive within a competitive market. Leadership is important because of the changing environmental demands. Also the difficulty of recruiting and retaining hospitality and tourism staff has increased the need of effective leadership.

Course Overview

 

Module 1- Client empowerment

Through this module, participants will be exposed  to  techniques   such as  ‘know your client’ (KYC). Importance will be given to the notion of client empowerment and the importance of  ‘word of mouth’    in today’s  dynamic markets.

 

Module 2 - Reacting to feedback

Building on to the previous module this unit accentuates  the need for constructive evaluation of client feedback,  with particular focusing on  handling complaints.  

 

Module 3 – Professionalism

This module shall focus on the four pillars of professionalism namely: empathy, humanism, altruism and accountability.

 

Module 4 - Delegation

Throughout this module participants shall be practicing the theoretical pillars of safe delegation. In this regard the course will delve into Eisenhower matrix and the 4 D’s of effective delegation.

 

Module 5 – Time and stress management

This module covers the stressors which are commonly found in hospitality situations and explores practical means to convert such stressors into positive tools which can be maximised.
